Direct drive fans utilize Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) that produce high torque while eliminating the need for a gearbox between the motor an blades. PMSM motors utilize digital controllers to vary the speed of the fans. The lack of a gearbox decreases the weight and eliminates the need for oil changes and maintenance.
Gearbox fans utilize a sealed gearbox between the AC induction motor and the blades to multiply the torque and maximize airflow across the blades. The speed of induction fans is controlled by time-tested variable frequency drives that are ideal for harsh environments.
Each fan is shipped with a speed controller and mounting hardware. The included mount fits most I or H beams and may be used to bolt directly to the structure. Guy wires are included for stability and fall protection. Due to mounting location variations, fans are not shipped with electrical wiring.
